Data is an invaluable resource. Each day, the Trinity community handles massive amounts of data from disparate sources.
Data Transformation is the process of converting data from one format, such as a database file, XML document or Excel spreadsheet, into another format. Essentially, it helps organise data into a format that can be analysed to improve interpretability and gain insight about the data collected.
If managed and used correctly, data can support cost reduction, help grow Trinity's research and teaching capabilities, enable better and faster decision making and improve communication across the college.

What is the Digital Trinity Data Transformation project?
Sponsored by IT Services, the Digital Trinity Data Transformation initiative is a planned multiyear program of work to harness the potential of Trinity's data assets.
The DT4 project has two main deliverables which are to be completed in parallel:
- Enterprise Customer Relationship Management (CRM) - Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Data Hub on Microsoft Azure
The CRM and Data Hub will deliver an automated integration between the student recruitment processes in Global Engagement and Trinity Business School, and the SITS student management system.
The intention is to launch the CRM for Trinity's Global Engagement and Business School and to create a Data hub that links to both our main systems of record for students (SITS) and staff (CoreHR).
After the initial launch the project will on-board more business units to the CRM, and add new systems, reporting and data sources to the Data Hub.
What's next?
The project has begun and is actively working on the procurement of the new development services.
Later stages of DT4 will look at delivering a data management strategy and a data architecture for the University.
