Access to additional external Internet services
Currently any software which uses protocols other than the standard HTTP, IMAP, POP, FTP etc. may not work by default from within College as it will be blocked for security reasons by our firewall. This includes such facilities as internet sharing software, video conferencing software and internet database software.
- Staff accessing the College network from College offices and labs who have a legitimate academic or administrative purpose for the use of any of these facilities can submit a request to the IT Service Desk to have additional internet services enabled for their computer.
- Postgraduates connected to the teaching and research network in College offices or labs may ask a staff member to submit a request on their behalf.
- Students connected to the Student Wi-Fi service may ask a staff member to submit a request on their behalf, where access is for College work and would not impinge on the Student Wi-Fi service.
List of available services
