Consultancy in Action: Developing Pharma Formulations for Oral Drug Delivery
In this video, Professor Anne-Marie Healy from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences discusses her consultancy work through CONSULT Trinity with a biopharmaceutical start-up company based in San Francisco. She describes how she has been sharing her academic expertise with the company for improved patient outcomes.
As a start-up, she notes, the company are “competing with the big players,” and they recognise that there is “huge benefit” to seeking advice from a world-leading Trinity academic. Professor Healy describes it as a “two-way exchange process,” in which she lends her expertise to the company and she is learning through the relationship as well.
Working with CONSULT Trinity, Professor Healy comments, has made this kind of engagement “a lot more professional” and “hassle-free.” She does not have to “worry about any of the admin,” but has “a lot of support and back-up” and is assured that her intellectual property is protected.
Professor Healy also states that this kind of work “removes this idea of the ivory tower” and demonstrates how Trinity academics can apply their expertise to “engage with the players out there who are able to make things happen,” to make a difference to the world around us.
