On 3 July 2023, Postgraduate Renewal Analysts Rionnagh Sheridan and Ewa Adach presented at the UK Council for Graduate Education Annual Conference at the University of Edinburgh (3-4 July 2023). The Annual Conference gathered colleagues from leading Higher Education Institutes across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to reflect on the past year in both PGT and PGR education and discuss some of the most pressing issues affecting the postgraduate sector. It explored successful strategies for managing growth in the postgraduate sector while at the same time maintaining quality in postgraduate provision. The themes of discussions and workshops included Research supervision, industry partnerships, internationalisation and community building and offered some valuable insights into:
- Internationalisation in postgraduate education
- Latest thinking in cohort development and postgraduate community building
- Cutting-edge industry partnerships which develop new routes in & out of postgraduate education
- Developments in support for research supervision
The detailed conference programme and copies of the presentations are available on the UKCGE’s website.
The implementation of the Supervisor-Research Student Agreement has been approved by University Council on a pilot basis in the academic year 2023-24 and we encourage our Supervisors and Research Students across Trinity to take part in the pilot implementation programme.
