Junior & Senior Freshman

In first year, we help you to develop your written and oral language skills, you will have a course in textual analysis, a module 'Introduction to German Literature' and you will also attend a series of lectures in area studies (Landeskunde), which deal with political institutions, society and current affairs in German-speaking countries.

In second year, we continue to develop your general language skills and you will be given an introduction to translation of general and legal texts. We will be working on individual and group projects, presentations skills and German essay writing. Part of the focus on preparing you for your third year abroad also includes a course on the university system in German-speaking countries and a course on the cultural history of Germany.
