Title of Project
Supercritical CO2 REactivity in polymineralic-fluid systems (SCORE)
Postgraduate research summary
I started my PhD at Trinity in January 2023. My project is funded by iCRAG, and consists in the study through SEM and XRD analysis of the interaction of basaltic rocks with CO2 supercritical fluids, in order to evaluate the mineral phases that are formed, in order to evaluate its effectiveness during the Carbon Capture process.
I attended both the BSc degree and the MSc degree at the University of Florence. My master thesis concerned the study of stable nitrogen and oxygen isotopes of nitrates and nitrites in the waters of the Arno river basin (Tuscany, Italy) in order to evaluate the sources of these compounds. To carry out the analysis of stable isotopes, I did an Internship period thanks to the Erasmus program at the laboratory of Biogeochemistry of stable isotopes of the IACT-CSIC (Granada, Spain).
My aim is to expand knowledge and help in the field of Carbon Capture, which is one of the strategic sectors at the moment with a view to decarbonization and energy transition.
