Biography
Carlotta has a strong interest in global and climate justice, gender, human rights and intercultural dialogue. She holds a Bachelor degree in Chinastudies from Leiden University. She spent one year of her studies in Renmin University of China as a recipient of the Sino-Dutch Scholarship (2017-2018). Following a year of work as a counsellor for refugees, she enrolled in the M.Phil in International Peace Studies at TCD in 2019, examining how the limited and gender blind approach to climate-induced displacement affects gender inequalities among climate displaced persons. Upon graduating with distinction, she decided to commence a PhD under the supervision of Dr Susan Murphy. Her project investigates how gender relations are shifted, accentuated and changed in response to slow- and sudden onset climate disasters.
