While technological advances enable a wide-range of new possibilities for lifestyle changes and novel business models, there is often a wide gap between academic research and real-world implementation. Indeed, new technologies and approaches can have wide-reaching unexpected consequences, hindering their adoption or the realisation of expected benefits.
This research strands addresses how citizens can be integrated early in the research pipeline, to ensure that practical considerations are taken into account, highlighting potential negative impact on society (e.g., through weakened privacy and security) and effectively to co-design potential futures.
