Graduate Trainee Accountant Testimonials
“I joined Trinity in 2019 as a trainee accountant. Thanks to the uniquely structured Trainee Accountant Programme in the Financial Services Division, I was exposed to various departments, gaining invaluable experience in areas such as Financial Planning, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Treasury Management.
The guidance and high-quality training I received helped me to successfully pass my professional exams. During this positive experience as a trainee accountant, I acquired a wide range of technical skills and competencies that I will carry throughout my career going forward.
Staff and management are great, and they provided me with encouragement and support at every step of the way. I received regular progress updates with my mentor, who was always approachable and ensured I had everything I needed to succeed. I would highly recommend this programme to anybody who wants to pursue a career in accounting.” Stephen Fagan, Recent Graduate
"Once I completed my masters from Trinity College Dublin, I joined Trinity's Financial Services Division (FSD) as a Trainee Accountant in 2017. Throughout my 4 years training, I was exposed to a variety of areas within FSD and gained a vast amount of experience in areas like financial planning, project appraisal, financial & management accounting, financial operations, projects accounting and treasury management. This was extremely helpful for me coming from an engineering background. The training programme is an immense one with multiple rotations and increasing levels of responsibilities as you progress. The staff in each area of FSD have been very supportive, and transitioning to new rotations has always been seamless.
Trinity provides a very unique level of training, at the end of which you will know what area interests you the most and in which direction you want to progress your career after qualifying as an accountant. I couldn't think of a better place for anyone who wants to start their ACA journey." Ritika Chouhan, 2021 Graduate
"I commenced my training in the Financial Services Division of Trinity College Dublin in 2014. Studying in the Finance Division of the top university in Ireland gave me access to a carefully structured training programme and exceptional mentoring. Highlights included experience in financial accounting, financial planning, risk management, treasury management and project appraisal. The Financial Services Division was large enough to ensure I could gain a wealth of experience in a variety of areas, whilst still providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a diverse team to help support me throughout my training. The quality of training that I gained from working in Trinity has given me the technical skills and confidence to excel as a fully qualified accountant." Anita Deorksen, 2018 Graduate
“I joined the Financial Services Division of Trinity College Dublin in 2012 as a trainee accountant. Trinity College offered me a truly unique environment to train as a Chartered Accountant and gave me a more broad, interesting and varied experience than that of the typical Chartered practice route. During my three and half years training with Trinity I was given an excellent framework of support, structure and guidance, which helped me achieve my Chartered Accountants qualification.
I gained experience in treasury management, financial planning and modelling, preparation of financial statements for audit and management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and the breadth of this exposure at such an early stage of my career gave me an excellent skillset to take on any post qualified role in industry.
My training with FSD has opened the door to a vast range of exciting career opportunities over the last number of years. Since leaving Trinity in 2015, I have worked as a Senior Finance Analyst in the FMCG industry. My roles have involved working cross functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Business Transformation and IT and the skills I gained while working in Trinity have supported me in quickly progressing my career within these companies and becoming a trusted finance business partner.” Claire Keane, 2016 Graduate
“I couldn’t recommend the trainee accountant programme enough. For anyone looking for a career in industry, Trinity is the perfect place to begin. It offers a positive and unique training environment and career experiences that cannot be found elsewhere.
During my time in FSD, I gained valuable experience in a variety of areas including finance, treasury management, financial reporting, budgeting and financial planning. I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of my role and the opportunity to expand my skill-set and develop both professionally and personally. I am currently working as a financial accountant for a global insurance company where my role involves budgeting and forecasting as well as the preparation of monthly management accounts and yearly financial statements. The broad range of experience provided by FSD has enabled me to take on this varied role and I will always be grateful to Trinity and FSD for the support and opportunities they provided.” Louise Gorham, 2015 Graduate
