Major Maintenance

The Major Maintenance section plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and improvement of the building stock within the Trinity Estate by undertaking various projects.

This includes a range of tasks such as managing small and medium-sized projects from start to finish, conducting inspections of existing structures and services, developing project briefs, coordinating design and construction activities, and ensuring compliance with building standards and regulations. We carry out surveys to identify works required to meet backlog and ongoing maintenance requirements and develop a forecast for multi-annual planned maintenance programmes.

We work closely with project sponsors, users, consultants, and contractors to ensure that all aspects of a project are executed efficiently and effectively. This includes developing design briefs, reviewing contract documents, managing construction activities on site, and facilitating communication between all involved parties. We participate in coordination with various departments to provide additional facilities such as the Cycle Infrastructure throughout the Estate.

TCD has a large number of historic buildings which fall under the Protected Structure Status. These are required to be maintained to an acceptable standard, and the upkeep of these buildings require additional attention, and works to these buildings often requires statutory consent and planning permission.
