On 19th June 2024 Trinity hosted an all-day meeting of the U9 group.
This group comprises of Energy and Carbon Managers from the 9 main Irish Universities and is supported by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
Peter Breen, Carbon Reduction and Engineering Services Manager, hosted the meeting, along with Emmet Gallagher, Energy Campus Officer.
Peter gave a presentation on Trinity College’s decarbonisation plan to achieve our 2030 Climate Action objectives of a 51% Greenhouse Gas reduction by 2030, and the technical and cost challenges with meeting those Climate Action objectives.
Deirdre O’Shea and Joe Walsh from the Capital projects team gave a presentation about the E3 Learning Foundry supported by Arup the design consultants to explain its leading energy efficient systems and technologies.
The U9 group has been a great source of knowledge exchange between the Universities about decarbonisation and energy saving solutions, and all the attendees found the day very informative.
