EDI Office ~ Siobán O’Brien Green
Siobán is responsible for leading and coordinating Trinity’s EDI efforts, as well as the leadership and development the EDI Office team. She also provides strategic advice and guidance on equality and diversity matters to senior leaders in the University.
Siobán has worked in government agencies and the non-profit, research and academic sectors for over 25 years. Siobán has worked on multiple national and European multicountry gender-based violence (GBV) research projects, including three commissioned by the European Institute of Gender Equality (EIGE) and represented Ireland on three COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Actions including: GenderSTE (Gender, Science, Technology and Environment) Network and Femicide across Europe Network. She has taught, published and presented widely on issues of equality, GBV and designing and undertaking research with vulnerable populations and is frequently consulted on these topics by both national and European bodies.
Siobán holds a Masters degree from University College Dublin (UCD) in Social Policy. In 2015 Siobán was awarded the sole Faculty of Health Sciences, Ussher Postgraduate PhD Fellowship by Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Her PhD research explored help and safety seeking by women who have experienced domestic violence during pregnancy in Ireland. She has been invited to present on her research in Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Austria and Norway.
Siobán has contributed to national and European reports, professional guidelines, communication campaigns and legislation development as well as publishing book chapters and academic journal articles.
