Two researchers from Trinity’s School of Engineering—Professor David Hoey and Dr Mark Ahearne—have secured prestigious funding through the Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Programme.
Professor Hoey, also part of the AMBER Research Centre, will develop mechano-immuno-modulatory strategies for bone regeneration, exploring how mechanical stimuli can enhance bone healing.
Dr Ahearne’s project focuses on optimising the mechanical environment for corneal bioengineering, advancing lab-grown corneas to improve treatment options for patients with vision loss.
Their work is part of a €6.5 million funding success for Trinity researchers tackling major scientific challenges.
