Biography

Barbara is an Assistant Principal for Programmes Co-ordination for Transition Year and Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) in Pobalscoil Neasáin. Barbara's initial qualification is a Bachelor’s Degree of Religious Education with History from Mater Dei Institute of Education. Barbara has completed postgraduate studies in Special Educational Needs, Restorative Practice & Mediation and Law & Education. Barabra completed a Masters in Education in School Leadership, with a research focus on promoting reading for pleasure through the use of the Accelerated Reader programme. Barbara is a Religious Education and History teacher and a JCT Associate for Religious Education. Barbara has collaborated with the NCCA on the Classroom Based Assessment (CBA) for Religious Education. Barbara has worked as a School Placement Tutor for Religious Education in St. Angela’s College mentoring students prior to and during their School Placement. Barbara is an active member of the LCA National Association executive, promoting and supporting LCA co-ordinators and teachers nationally. Barbara has served as teacher nominee and she is a current patron nominee on a school’s Board of Management. Barbara has quickly learned that schools are managed in a manner that provides all students with the best possible education. Barbara believes that it is important that schools provide an educational experience that meets and supports student individual needs to allow them to achieve their academic potential and participate in all aspects of school life.
