The School of Education Postgraduate Research Conference Committee 2025 is delighted to announce the call for abstracts for the 16th annual PGR Conference, taking place in person on campus on Saturday, 24 May 2025.

Reflecting on the education community, this year’s conference seeks to highlight research that addresses the theme of “Relationships” in Education. This can take any perspective you wish to explore. We welcome submissions from current and recent doctoral students in the School of Education and beyond.

Building on the work of previous committees, we are committed to creating an event that is accessible, and we welcome your suggestions.

Conference Format

  • Oral Papers

o    Each presenter will be allotted 15 minutes.

o    Presentations will be grouped with 3-4 other similar presentations.

o    The group of presentations will be followed by 15–20 minutes of questions and discussion.

o    On the day of the conference, similarly themed papers will be grouped together for a longer panel discussion, which will be chaired.

  • Posters

o    Academic posters must adhere to the guidelines (forthcoming).

o    Posters will be displayed in an exhibition space at the conference venue and online on the conference webpage.

  • Lightning Talks

o    Each presentation will have a maximum of three slides.

o    Submissions must take the form of a PowerPoint presentation submitted in advance.

o    Presentations are limited to five minutes each.

General Guidelines for Submissions:

  • For standardisation, abstracts are limited to a maximum of 250 words (excluding the title).
  • Presenter biographies must be no longer than 150 words.
  • Abstracts will be published on the conference webpage.
  • Social media will be used over the course of the conference. If a participant has any concerns, please contact the organising committee.
  • Authors of presentations must adhere to the PowerPoint and timing guidelines.
  • A submission link will be provided shortly.

Timelines:

  • Deadline for Abstract Submissions:10 February 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance:28 February 2025
  • Submission of Papers Deadline:25 March 2025 (after acceptance)
  • Conference Registration:25 March–23 May 2025
  • PGR Conference:24 May 2025

 

Reviewing:

  • All submissions will be reviewed in accordance with the conference theme.
  • Submitters can indicate a preference for the paper format. However, the conference committee reserves the right to request that the abstract be assigned to alternate formats.
  • Conference materials, including PowerPoint slides, may be published on the dedicated conference webpage.
