The LUMIERE Research Group recently hosted an webinar, "Language Prerequisites for Literary Success", featuring the eminent Professor Catherine Snow from Harvard Graduate School of Education. As the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education, Professor Snow brought globally recognised expertise to this critical topic concerning the intricate relationship between language and literacy development
Held online on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, the event drew over 60 attendees from various Schools within the university, as well as practitioners and system leaders from the broader education community.
Professor Snow delved into the fundamental language skills necessary for achieving literacy success, offering insights that could shape educational strategies and research directions. The webinar proved invaluable for educators, policymakers, and scholars in language education and literacy.
