This presentation will discuss a research study that aims to understand the impact of a professional development course on teachers' perceptions of arts integration in English language instruction. The study will review the literature on arts integration in English language instruction, describe the research methods used, and present findings, discussion, and conclusions. Participants can expect to gain an understanding of the potential benefits of arts integration in language instruction and the role of professional development in supporting teachers' understanding and incorporation of this approach. The results of this study will also provide insights on the effectiveness of professional development opportunities in promoting teachers' willingness to use arts integration in their language instruction.
Tuğba Yıldırım Kumbasar is an instructor at Sabancı University, Turkey. Holding a Bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching and a Master's degree in Turkish Language Education, she is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Educational Sciences at Boğaziçi University. She has received several awards and recognitions, including the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program at the University of North Dakota/USA, the Grundtvig Program at the Europass Teacher Academy in Florence/Italy, and the Fulbright FLTA Program at Brown University/USA. She has a wealth of teaching experience at various institutions, including University of Wisconsin-Madison, Özyeğin University, Brown University, and TED Istanbul College. As a language educator dedicated to helping her students reach their full potential through creative teaching methods, she is passionate about incorporating the arts into her teaching. She also leads professional development sessions on "Arts Integration" for language instructors.
