Application Information
The School of Education strongly advises those considering application to consult informally with members of the School in relation to their research proposal, in advance of a formal application to the Dean of Graduate Studies.
Entry Requirements
Prospective students are normally expected to hold a good honors degree (preferably an upper second class) or above and be fluent in the English language.
International applicants
All applicants whose first language is not English and have not been educated through the medium of English must provide evidence of English language proficiency. For further details on requirements please refer to the University's English language requirements.
If you would like more information about studying in Ireland, please contact Academic Registry.
Application Forms
Application forms can be found on the Academic Registry website and your application must be submitted directly to the Dean of Graduate Studies. However, as stated above, it is advisable to contact the School in the first instance to discuss your research proposal and supervisor availability. Please see below for Writing and Presenting a Research Proposal (PDF).

Closing Dates
Applications for the research register may be considered at any time, however, there are only two registration periods (September and March) for degrees by research and applicants are advised to apply as early as possible prior to their chosen registration period as supervisory capacity may be limited.
Registration
All students are required to register for college every year at the beginning of the academic year. Registration is a separate process and payment of fees does not automatically register the student in college. Registration can proceed only when all outstanding fees and other charges have been paid and received by College. Failure to register may result in late fees being charged.
