Dr. Cian O’Callaghan
Cian O’Callaghan (School of Natural Sciences) an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography is an urban and cultural geographer whose research interests include creativity and place, neoliberalism, and political contestations over the re-use of urban vacant spaces. His work has focused on broad sustainability challenges associated with the urban regeneration of city centre brownfield sites. His research on urban vacant spaces has explored how the reuse of these sites could forward an agenda of compact urban growth, enabling more active and less car dependent forms of mobility to become embedded.
