Trinity College Dublin proudly announced the recipients of the 2023 Three Ireland Connect to STEM Scholarships for Women during a ceremony hosted by Three Ireland. This year’s awardees, all first-year students, are:
- Joy Aladejana, Chemical Sciences
- Riona Howlin Barman, Environmental Science and Engineering
- Rachel Berwick, Environmental Science and Engineering
- Sophie Moore, Physical Sciences
- Alvita Thomas, Engineering
These five scholars represent the second cohort of recipients from a total of 25 scholarships to be awarded over five years (2022-2026). The scholarships, valued at €20,000 each for a four-year undergraduate degree, are designed to encourage more women in Ireland to pursue STEM fields at Trinity College Dublin.

The ceremony featured a special presentation with Mark Redmond, Chief People Officer of Three Ireland & UK, alongside the scholarship winners and Professor Sylvia Draper, Dean of the Faculty of STEM at Trinity. The scholarship program, managed by the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Trinity Access, aims to enhance diversity and inclusion in STEM education and provide recipients with valuable career opportunities in technology sectors.
The selection process involved a competitive written application, and the successful students will also benefit from mentoring and additional support provided by Three Ireland. This initiative underscores Trinity’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive STEM community.
