Trinity College Dublin has awarded the 2024/25 Three Ireland Connect to STEM Scholarships for Women to six outstanding students during a special evening ceremony.

Scholarship Recipients and Their Programmes:

  • Lily Fitzgerald – Management Science and Information System Studies (MSISS)
  • Sandy Li Bin Chen – MSISS
  • Charlotte Ledwidge – Environmental Science and Engineering
  • Alanna Hayes – Engineering
  • Holly MacEntee – Physical Sciences
  • Abigail O’Brien Murray – Theoretical Physics

These six scholars represent the third cohort of recipients, as part of a five-year initiative awarding a total of 25 scholarships.

Scholarship winners Alanna Hayes, Sandy Li Bin Chen, Lily Fitzgerald, Keavy Gorman (Director of People Development, Three Ireland), Sylvia Draper (Dean of the Faculty of STEM, Trinity), Abigail O'Brien Murray, Holly MacEntee and Charlotte Ledwidge.

The scholarships, valued at €20,000 each over a four-year undergraduate programme, are administered by Trinity’s Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Trinity Access. The initiative aims to encourage more women in Ireland to pursue STEM degrees at Trinity.

Prof. Sylvia Draper, Dean of the Faculty of STEM at Trinity, congratulated the scholars, stating:
"I extend my warm congratulations to Lily, Sandy Li, Charlotte, Alanna, Holly, and Abigail. Their success highlights the importance of this scholarship in promoting diversity in STEM. We are grateful to Three Ireland for their generous support, helping to provide valuable career opportunities in science and technology.”

Keavy Gorman, Director of People Development at Three Ireland, added:

Now in its third year, the Three Ireland Connect to STEM Scholarship Programme continues to support and mentor female students, empowering them to excel in their studies and future careers.
