Essential Information
How to apply
Canada
Dental graduates from Irish dental schools can now return to Canada and practice Dentistry (once they have completed their State Board examinations), without the necessity to complete an additional two years in a dental institution in Canada. This is due to the reciprocal agreement between the two countries.
In December 2012, a reciprocity agreement was signed between the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) and the Dental Council of Ireland. Under this the CDAC and the Dental Council of Ireland agree that each party recognises the accreditation standards and policies of the other party as being substantially equivalent to its own. There are twelve dental programmes covered under this agreement, ten in Canada and two in Ireland and students who graduate from these programmes after 5 December 2012 can benefit from its provisions. The agreement is for an initial period of five years and is subject to ongoing review over this period.
Further information on the reciprocity agreement can be found here: http://www.dentalcouncil.ie/mutual_recognition.php
All applicants from Canada and North America must apply through Atlantic Bridge
Entry Requirements: All Canadian applicants are required to have completed and undergraduate degree in a relevant area including Biological or Biomedical Science, Physics or Chemistry.
