On Friday 1st of  December 2023, Fergus Sheil was awarded a Honorary Doctor in Letters from Trinity, the highest academic honour the university can bestow. 

Fergus is a graduate of Trinity's Music degree. He was the founder of Trinity Orchestra 34 years ago and has developed and taught a new module for current Music students MUU34047 - From Page to Stage. He is a conductor with an international career and the Artistic Director of Irish National Opera.
