Summer Series of concerts in full swing!
Published July 25th, 2018
This year’s Summer Series of gigs on College Park kicked off on Monday, with a memorable performance by iconic singer Grace Jones while last night it was the turn of classical supergroup Il Divo (pictured above).
Following on from the success of 2017’s inaugural series, this year’s programme features six nights of entertainment: Grace Jones (Monday), Il Divo (Tuesday), Rag ‘n’ Bone Man (tonight, Wednesday), no performance on Thursday night, Bryan Ferry (Friday), Gavin James (Saturday) and finally Imelda May (Sunday).
While the thousands of concert-goers who come through the gates of Trinity during the week will no doubt go home happy, special mention must go to the Commercial Revenue Unit (CRU) for organising them.
Commercial Revenue’s net contribution to college was €23.3 million last year and events like the Summer Series feed directly into this. Proceeds from the 2018 concerts will go towards funding the Provost’s PhD Project Awards, 40 fully funded PhD positions across a range of disciplines.
Just some of the other projects supported by CRU include the ongoing funding of Ussher posts, the Trinity Walton Club and the MV upgrade project.
- There will be some access restrictions in place for the duration of the Summer Series. More details available here.
