CLU11412 Latin in Context II
This module will guide you through a selection of texts representative of key aspects of the history of Latin language and usage. You will further develop your translation, philological and critical skills, expand your understanding of grammar, idiom and style, and acquire a strong grasp of the development of literary and colloquial Latin.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
- Translate original Latin texts of moderate difficulty into idiomatic English and motivate translation decisions
- Critically analyse Latin texts in their linguistic, literary, and cultural-historical contexts using appropriate terminology
- Compose a correctly referenced and formatted essay on a linguistic or literary topic
- Select and cite appropriate evidence/primary sources
- Make effective use of secondary literature in support of an independent and clearly-articulated argument
