The research activities undertaken address the need to generate clean energy and improve current energy systems to provide sufficient energy for an increasing global population. The SEAG / TCD Solar team has its independent Solar Laboratory for research purposes.

- Thermal energy storage
- Solar collectors
- Building integration of solar devices and systems
- Small and large scale solar energy systems
