MSc in Engineering
We offer four distinctive and challenging MSc in Engineering courses. These courses can be taken on a full-time (one year) or part-time (two year) basis, with contact hours depending on your module selection, typically spread from Monday to Friday (during working hours).

MSc in Climate Adaptation Engineering
We are excited to introduce our new MSc in Climate Adaptation Engineering, designed to prepare students to tackle climate change through sustainable and resilient solutions. This one-year programme combines engineering expertise with multidisciplinary approaches, offering practical and data-driven learning through core modules and an industry-led research project. Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the course equips graduates to design engineering- and nature-based systems for resilience in built and natural environments. With 90% classroom-based and some online learning, students gain expertise in sustainable design, resource management, and strategic planning. Graduates emerge ready to address climate challenges with technical skills and a holistic understanding of societal, environmental, and economic factors. Find out more here.
Postgraduate Diplomas in Engineering
The Department also offers seven distinct Postgraduate Diplomas suitable for working professionals. Each diploma course is taken on a full-time (one year) basis, with contact hours during semester time (September to April) every Friday evening and Saturday morning. These courses include:

- Applied Building Repair and Conversation
- Health & Safety in Construction
- Sustainable Energy & the Environment
- Construction Law & Contract Administration
Research Degrees
The MAI (Ind.) is a two-year part-time research degree performed in the workplace by the candidate under the supervision of an academic at TCD. The MAI (Ind.) degree is research-based and judged on a dissertation prepared by the candidate.
MAI students can register 1 March or 1 September each year, once a research proposal and a suitable supervisor is identified for you.
