Christmas Campaign 2021
December 2021
This Christmas we’re delighted again to work with Localise National Youth Volunteers to support the 2nd year students at Larkin Community College, Sean McDermott St with their Christmas Campaign to source gifts and essentials(pdf 1MB) for their local Simon Community Homeless Facilities in Dublin's north inner city (Sean McDermott Street, Dorset Street, The Boroughs and Maple Apt. North Circular Road). This is the fifth year of this event and it has been a great success due to the generosity of the staff and students in College. This year is a little different due to the current circumstances however, there are still ways to bring Christmas care to the service users of Dublin Simon Community.
Localise is a youth and community development group that encourages young people to give back to their community in a positive way. The students chose to give their time to help residents of Dublin Simon Community's four facilities in their local area. Many of the residents have been homeless for long periods and don't have the capacity to live on their own right now - a gift at Christmas would mean a lot. This is an opportunity for students and staff in College to give back and support people working to help themselves and each other.
Supporting this inspirational, but ultimately very practical, project continues Trinity's longstanding connection with the Simon Community, and the involvement of the Larkin students reflects the origins of that relationship which began with a group of Trinity students setting up the first Simon soup run back in 1969. The campaign runs from now until Monday the 13th of December – here's how you can help: • Look through this list (pdf 1MB) • Donate a voucher in a personalised Christmas Card • Post to: Localise/Trinity Appeal, The Talent Garden, Claremount Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin, D11 KXN4 Post can be received any time between now and Monday the 13th of December. If you have any questions or would like any more information, get in touch with the Civic Engagement Officer, Simone Cameron-Coen scamero@tcd.ie.
