CIHS has built up over thirty year's experience with projects which aim to resolve problems and bring about meaningful changes in behaviour, operations and policy. These applied projects focus on areas such as developing and implementing safety training for the design, operation and maintenance; implementing process improvement initiatives to improve cost effectiveness; conducting needs assessments and safety culture assessments. Constantly innovating and evolving solutions means that there is a transfer of learning between multiple sectors. Transferring expertise and knowledge to the benefit of organisations can be done in multiple ways, from leveraged research funding to dedicated research funding.
The CIHS provides a variety of offerings in Research, Education/Training and Consultancy. Our team of highly experienced and dedicated researchers, use their skills and experience to address the real challenges faced by diverse sectors, to produce solutions that put people front and centre. CIHS has worked with a wide range of academic and industry partners on a variety of projects. Collaborators include Airbus, Aitalia, Irish Rail, University College Cork, Oneview, Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Siochana, St. James Hospital, IBEC, Energia, Merck and Government of Ireland.
Researchers in the Centre for Innovative Human Systems have received national and international recognition for their work, with over €30 million of funding secured from European Commission research Programmes, National Funders and Industrial Sectors. CIHS researchers contribute to SFI Research Centres LERO and ADAPT, and are members of European and global research collaborations.
CIHS has a large group of associated staff who work with us on a wide variety of activities such as project proposals, research collaborations, training and development and industry partnerships. 9 faculty professors, 5 industry experts, 5 research associates, 10 research staff and 12 research students.
