Programme Overview
The M.Sc. in Business Analytics focuses on the applications of modern operational research and management science techniques to solve business problems and support management decisions.

On successful completion of the course students should be able to:
- Assess and prepare business data for business insight generation
- Compare different techniques in business analytics and choose from them to solve real business problems
- Formulate business problems into analytics problems and propose actionable actions
- Employ relevant business analytics software for business problems
- Plan and manage either an academic research project or company project
Student Profile
Our typical students would be numerate students who are interested in using analytics to solve management and business problems such as in marketing, accounting and finance, operations, supply chain and human resource. Employment opportunities exist as business analysts or analytics professionals.
Analytics has become increasingly important in the business world as organisations have access to vast amounts of data. With businesses becoming increasingly digital, data is being collected at an increasing rate. Customer databases, web logs, attitudinal surveys and transactional databases, mobile phone activities, transportation, loyalty cards, and other data sources all contribute to companies and organizations collecting and holding more data than ever before. By exploiting this data organizations are better able to make evidence‐based decisions to sustain continuous improvements and gain insights to inform critical business decisions.
This one year full‐time postgraduate course provides the students with necessary skills and knowledge in both fundamental analytics as well as business studies to be able to succeed in the business world. Students will gain critical thinking skills and develop expertise to analyse and organise business data and derive actionable insights from them. The course will focus on the applications of modern operational research and management science techniques to solve business problems and support management decisions. The students will be equipped for careers in all business sectors as well as in government and private consultancies, all of which are looking for trained business analytics professionals.

Programme Information
This part technical course will focus on the application of modern operational research and management science techniques to solve business problems and support management decisions. Gain a wide range of capabilities including technical skills, business knowledge and advanced problem solving methods. Students will be introduced to various analytic frameworks like CRISP-DM and gather an understanding of the rising global legislation in the area of data management. In the final term students can choose to complete an industry project to gain real business experience or pursue a dissertation on a topic of their choosing.
M.Sc. Business Analytics is accredited by Institute of Management Consultant and Advisors that allows students to membership benefits for duration of their study and 1 year after graduation.

Data analytics has become a critical and in-demand skill as business becomes increasingly digital, students will be equipped for careers in all business sectors such as government, healthcare, education, transportation and many others where decisions and policies need to be supported but data-based evidence.
