Scaling evapotranspiration (ET) from plant to catchment level under present and future climate: Implications for water resources and flooding
This 4-year SFI-funded project through iCRAG’s Earth System Change programme explores how vegetation type and behavior influence streamflow and runoff, past, present, and future under climate change. By integrating plant science and catchment hydrology, it leverages Prof. McElwain’s plant water-loss data to enhance hydrology models from Prof. Gill’s lab. Key outcomes include improved understanding of historical vegetation impacts on streamflow and better predictions of water resources and flood risks in Irish catchments.
