Katie joined TCD in 2022 as a research assistant for the TERRAFORM research project. TERRAFORM is an ERC funded project that will explore how plants have transformed or terraformed' the Earth into a habitatble space for the dizzying array of life that has existed on planet Earth. Specifically, plant evolution will be explored by studying plant traits over the past 300 million years and how this influenced earth processes such as weathering and the hydrological cycle.
Before joining the TERRAFORM team, Katie worked at Schneider Electric, a multinational that delivers automation, digitization and energy management solutions, with a primary focus on sustainability. Katie graduated from University College Dublin in 2021 with a B.Sc. in Environmental Science. In 2019, she spent 6 weeks completing tropical rainforest research at the Iwokrama Rainforest in Guyana. She completed her thesis on ‘The Physiological Characterization of Barley to Waterlogging’.
