Jie Huang

Jie holds a MSc in Ecology from Guangxi University, China, where her project focused on population genetics, phylogeny and distribution of introduced mangrove species Laguncularia racemosa in China. During her MSc, she was also involved in Freshwater Swamp Functional Traits project collaborating with National University of Singapore.

Jie joins the Botany Department as a PhD student in January 2022 with Walsh Scholarship funded by Teagasc. Her PhD project focuses on assessing genetic diversity of four commercially important broadleaved trees (Alder, Downy & Silver Birch and Sycamore) in Ireland and susceptibility of Ash to Ash Dieback and that of Alder to Phytophthora.
