Charlotte Morgan

Charlotte completed a B.A. in Botany from Trinity College Dublin in May 2022. As part of her undergraduate thesis, she examined the fungal diversity of Taxus species, with a specific focus on Taxol - producing fungi. In the project, she focused on fungal identification, population genetics and relatedness of species. She commenced her PhD in September, 2022, and is working on the EVOLVE project in Teagasc. Her PhD focuses on herbicide resistance in Irish grass weeds, which is an increasingly worrying problem in tillage agriculture. The project aims to identify resistance mechanisms through the combined use of molecular biology techniques and glasshouse trials on the predominant weeds in Irish agriculture. The project also focuses on looking at population structures and genetic diversity of the invasive weeds, black grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) and sterile brome (Bromus sterilis)."
