John Barry Gill

John Barry Gill sadly passed away on 24 March 2020. John was a Medicine student at Trinity in the late 1940s and early 50s. He played rugby at Trinity and partook in athletics during this time. John was also a Knight of the Campanile at Trinity.
John was 'immensely proud of his Irish roots and had extremely fond memories of his time' at Trinity. After graduating, he left Ireland and became a doctor for the Royal Navy. He served on the HMS Belfast, the Royal Yacht Britannia and a number of other ships. In the 1960s, John moved to Suffolk with his family, which remained his home for the rest of his life.
Gillian Gill (nee Browne), John's wife, was also a medical student at Trinity around the same time as he. Gillian became a gynaecologist. Gillian passed away in 2015.
