Date: Tuesday 18 March 2025

Time: 16.00 to 17.30

Location: TRiSS Seminar Room, Level 6, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin.

Dr Bronagh Ćatibušić, Assistant Professor in Applied Linguistics, in the School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences, will launch her research report at the Linguistics Research Seminar. This seminar will present research on fostering community connections with people who have experienced forced displacement, based on a research project funded by the TRiSS Academic Research Fellowship Award.

This research project involved focus groups with people from displaced backgrounds who attended English conversation classes organised in Trinity College Dublin as part of the University of Sanctuary initiative, and with volunteers who delivered these classes. It also included interviews with participants from organisations working in the fields of integration support, volunteering, education, and the arts. The study focused on issues relating to language learning, access to education and employment, accommodation, and cultural engagement.

Admission to the seminar is free, and no registration is required.

Hard copies of the report will be available at the event, the digital version will also be shared after the launch.
