Welcome to the FRANTIC ASSEMBLY WORKSHOPS at Trinity College Dublin! Join us on either 07 March 2025 or 08 March 2025, starting at 9:00 AM for an exciting day of creativity and movement. With more than 30 years’ experience, Frantic Assembly has developed into one of the UK's most successful and best loved theatre companies. Fiercely committed to inclusive and collaborative practice, Frantic Assembly is about telling stories to empower and connect. This subsidised in-person event will take place at the School of Education Trinity College Dublin, where you'll have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge physical theatre techniques, engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and network with teachers, creatives and researchers from diverse fields.
We are thrilled to welcome the incredible Steve Kirkham to Dublin to lead the workshops on both days. Steve works in all forms of movement and choreography for film, television and theatre, and teaches nationally and internationally for Frantic Assembly. He was a principal dancer with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures for over 20 years, creating original roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Play Without Words and Edward Scissorhands.
Credits include Hadestown and Here Lies Love at the National Theatre (associate choreographer) and The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night-Time in the West End (associate movement director for Frantic Assembly). He was associate movement coach on the film World War Z, the BBC series His Dark Materials and Pilgrim for Lucasfilm. He was the choreographer for Love's Labour’s Lost and The Wedding Singer (Royal Academy of Music) and Betty Blue Eyes, Sweeney Todd, Made in Dagenham, Into The Woods, Dogfight and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Mountview), as well as movement associate on Goldfrapp's Supernature Tour.
Day 1: Frantic Connections: A Day of Interdisciplinary Exploration.
Step into a unique and immersive experience where researchers and creative practitioners come together to explore how creativity and innovation works across disciplines. Through dynamic workshops and collaborative discussions, this event connects the worlds of creativity and research, enriching practices across academia and the arts. Discover how physical theatre techniques can enhance non-verbal communication while using the body as both a creative and research tool. Delve into the art of storytelling to communicate complex ideas in engaging and impactful ways. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and create with Frantic Assembly in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Day 2: Frantic Assembly in the Classroom. An Interactive Workshop for Teachers.
Join us for an engaging workshop that bridges innovative practices with the Draft Leaving Certificate Drama, Film, and Theatre Studies Specification. Learn how to motivate your students, foster creativity, and deepen their understanding of drama and performance. Frantic Assembly’s physical theatre techniques and devising processes, encourage imaginative storytelling, teamwork, and critical reflection. By integrating multimedia elements and promoting inclusivity, their practice supports the curriculum’s focus on innovative, accessible, and reflective artistic expression.
