As announced in Budget 2025, there will be a €1,000 reduction in the student contribution fee. This will be availabe to all registered HEA (Higher Education Authority) eligible undergraduate students in the academic year 2024/25.
Refunds will be processed to students who have paid the student contribution fee in full during registration.
Students that have opted for payment by instalment on registration will receive €1,000 credit which can be offset against the outstanding student contribution fee liability (or proportion thereof for partial year).
If SUSI is partially funding the student contribution fee (i.e., 50%), students will be eligible for the balance (i.e., 50% of the student contribution fee reduction – €500 – to be offset against any outstanding student contribution fee balance, thereby reducing the student's student contribution fee liability to €1,000).
If SUSI is funding 100% of the student contribution fee, then no refund or credit is required as there is no liability to the student.
