Assessment Integrity Clinic: Safeguarding Academic Integrity in an age of Artificial Intelligence (STEM disciplines)
Date: 11th May 2023
Time:13:00 - 14:00
Venue: Online
Facilitators: Dr Jonny Johnston & Assoc. Prof. Cicely Roche
In STEM disciplines, generative AI (e.g ChatGPT) poses particular risks to assessment integrity in the context of proving ‘authorship’ of unsupervised assignments, for example lab reports, calculations and coding assignments.
This clinic aims to:
-
raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities posed by generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, particularly in relation to academic integrity;
-
showcase potential modifications to assessment practices in STEM disciplines in response to these challenges;
-
provide a forum for STEM colleagues with leadership roles in teaching and learning to discuss ongoing challenges posed by generative AI and to share potential strategies for mitigating these challenges.
This clinic aims to support colleagues with leadership roles in teaching and learning within the STEM Faculty e.g. Directors of Teaching and Learning (Postgraduate and Undergraduate), Programme Directors/Coordinators etc. All colleagues within the Faculty are welcome to register.
