Admissions Strategy
At the February 2024/25 Council update from the Vice-Provost advised that work is ongoing in relation to the educational masterplan pillar of the strategy, which will incorporate such initiatives as the admissions strategy. Pilots in the School of Medicine, School of Law and Chemistry and at various stages. The School of Medicine are seeking to embark on a partnership model with the HSE, to provide ongoing healthcare education to hospital staff. Law expressed an interest in improving diversity in their School through a review of their access routes and the provision of more flexibility in how their programmes can be taught. The School of Chemistry anticipated opening up the circular economy and recycling technologies diploma paused under the Human Capital Initiative but due to competing demand has not materialised.
In parallel, discussion has been ongoing in relation to the HCI project – Next generation Teaching and Learning for the Changing Needs of Society and Industry impacts. This project has developed new courses across all levels and implemented comprehensive blended and online learning modules. These have created an agile portfolio of modular courses that address real-world needs. Through collaboration with enterprise partners and learners, innovative approaches to curriculum design, delivery and assessment have been tested.
Through these achievements, Trinity has enhanced its capacity to meet the evolving needs of the economy and society while maintaining academic excellence, introducing innovation, and expanding educational access. It is anticipated that learnings from this project, will form part of the next Education Masterplan.
