Suspension and Cessation of UG programmes

Proposals to discontinue undergraduate programmes, having the support of the School Committee, the School Executive and the Faculty Dean, must be presented to the Undergraduate Studies Committee (USC) prior to being considered by the University Council for its final decision. Comments emanating from USC will accompany the cessation proposal to Council.

Suspension

Requests for suspension of programmes must be made on the designated form and submitted to Joanna Kozielec in Academic Affairs kozielej@tcd.ie and the Senior Lecturer/Dean of Undergraduate Studies, at least two working weeks before the relevant USC meeting to which it will be submitted. The Faculty Dean and School Executive must approve the suspension of the programme by signing the form [Head of School signs on behalf of School Executive]. Please see the UG Suspension Request Form below.

Requests for suspension are normally considered only for one academic year to review the course and make a final decision on its future.

Cessation

Requests for cessation of undergraduate programme must be supported by the School Executive, and the Faculty Dean, and will be submitted to Undergraduate Studies Committee and Council for final approval. The designated Cessation Form must be submitted to the USC Secretary Joanna Kozielec in Academic Affairs kozielej@tcd.ie, at least two working weeks before the relevant USC meeting. Please see the UG Cessation Request Form below.

Proposals to cease a programme must be approved at the latest at the last Council meeting to take effect in the following academic year.
