Update from College Secretary to students and staff
5 October 2020
Dear colleagues and students,
Most of you will have seen the news that the National Public Health Emergency Team has recommended to the Government that the whole country be moved to the highest level of restrictions, Level 5, in the Government’s Plan for Living with COVID-19. Until the Government decides otherwise, the situation remains unchanged since last week with Dublin being at Level 3 and with the universities having enhanced protective measures in place, as previously communicated to you.
Any decision taken at a national level is likely to have an impact on universities. We will have to await details from the relevant Government departments but I want to assure you that it is our intention to communicate clearly once we know what the decisions mean for you and the College community. We are likely to have a clearer picture in the coming days.
This is undoubtedly a stressful time for many people, and uncertainty exacerbates this. You can find support from your Tutor or Senior Tutor’s office at ST.Office@tcd.ie . Student Counselling is available at student-counselling@tcd.ie while the Chaplains are available at chaplain@tcd.ie . Please see here for more information regarding student supports and services.
The virus is spreading more quickly than before. At this time it is important to maintain social distancing, wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering indoors and maintain good coughing and sneezing etiquette.
Best regards
John Coman
Secretary to the College
