Haley’s PhD project will investigate the biology and ecology of large marine fish by looking at the relationships between sea temperature, oxygen concentration and fisheries pressure on behaviour and physiology. Haley will use several methods to achieve this, including tagging wild marine fish with multi-sensor packages, assessing horizontal and vertical distributions and fitting thermal performance curves. Haley’s research is supervised by Dr Nicholas Payne (TCD) as part of The Payne Lab, with additional support provided by Dr Andrew Jackson (TCD) and Dr Jonathan Houghton (QUB), who will act as co-supervisors. Haley is funded by the Irish Research Council.
