Research Interests
I am interested in the impacts of global change on marine life, from organism to ecosystem level, and the potential for species and populations to adapt to future environmental conditions. I am a Cullen Fellow undertaking a PhD with Dr. Nessa O’Connor and under the joint supervision of Dr. Carlos Rocha at Trinity College Dublin, and Dr. Evin McGovern and Dr. Francis O’Beirn at the Marine Institute. My project focuses primarily on exploring the effects of current and future ocean acidification on the performance of marine calcifiers (namely bivalves) inhabiting contrasting coastal environments in Ireland. The outputs of this project will hopefully inform the selection of future aquaculture sites and improve our understanding of the ecological consequences of changing ocean carbonate chemistry for productive coastal ecosystems.
