Art in the Lab
With a grant from the Arts Council, artist Catherine Fitzgerald spent a 3 month residency in the lab in 2004. As a former biologist, much of Catherine’s work deals with images and ideas in biology; in particular her study ”Unwanted genes on a DNA spiral” (2003) has received much attention as a metaphor for DNA. Her earlier charcoal drawings of chick embryos gave a natural starting point for her interaction with our group and we are pleased to now have two of these works in the lab.
