About
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a powerful tool for scientific research and for clinical diagnosis. Many people are now famliar with seeing high quality images of the inside of our bodies, and it is easy to forget that MRI is only a few decades old. Since its invention, the number of MRI scanners has grown dramatically, in Ireland and across the world, as new ways are found to exploit its power.
Our scanners are used by scientists from Trinity College and institutions across Ireland. Some projects aim to understand healthy brain function while others study how it disrupted. Many of our projects involve collaborations with clinicians, such as Neurologists, Psychiatrists and Pediatricians, from Ireland's leading hospitals.
These projects are supported by a dedicated team, including a physicist, radiographer, and sequence programmer. Our thriving Imaging Interest Group with internal and external speakers helps connect people and train new users.
