I have a few different areas of work which are held together by a committed desire to critically reflect on the methods and policies that shape academic knowledge production, and to experiment with ways of doing things beyond the current norms. My projects have developed at an interdisciplinary intersection between languages and cultural studies writing, and educational research about researcher development.

Creative-critical practice: exploring how modes of writing associated with creative and performative practices might be employed as methods for critical writing in the humanities.
Researcher development policy and practice: critical reflection on the national and institutional policies that shape doctoral and postdoctoral development in Ireland, the UK and further afield.
Humanities research education: investigating the holistic benefits that doctoral education in languages and cultural studies may have.

Prior to my IRC fellowship, I completed a PhD in Italian Studies at the University of St Andrews. My thesis explores the work of contemporary creative practitioners in Rome in relation to queer feminist and (post)colonial theories. In the years between my PhD and my postdoc, I worked as a researcher developer with University Alliance’s Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA), a cross-institutional doctoral training initiative in the UK.

Colleagues at TCD and further afield - if you would like to hear more about my research, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
