An Cumann Gaelach
TCD's Cumann Gaelach was founded in 1906 and has been growing ever since. This year there are nearly one thousand members. It is not necessary to be a fluent speaker of Irish to feel at home in the Cumann, as people with only a few words of Irish are also welcome. The Cumann aims to provide an opportunity and a meeting place for those who have an interest in speaking, improving their knowledge of, or learning the Irish language.
Each year the Cumann organises céilís, singing groups, set dancing classes, basic Irish classes for foreign students and weekends away, while the annual week of Irish cultural events, the Éigse, is one of the highlights of the year.
The Cumann is situated Room 8 in the Atrium.
