Dr. Brian Brewer, PhD (Brown)Assistant Professor
Brian Brewer received his Ph.D. from Brown University. He taught at Brown and Swarthmore College, in the United States, before coming to Trinity College Dublin. Dr. Brewer holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies, where he teaches courses in the literature and social history of early modern Spain at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research focuses on the presence of the discourses of early modern economic theory and political economy (arbitrismo) in the literature of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Spain, with particular application to the prose works of Cervantes and the picaresque novel. He is the author of numerous essays and articles, as well as a frequent presenter at international conferences.
