Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation
The Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation would like to acknowledge the very generous financial support it has received from the Trinity College Dublin Association and Trust.
The Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation is a strategic partnership between four stakeholders:
- School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies (TCD)
- Dalkey Archive Press (DAP)
- Ireland Literature Exchange (ILE) – Ireland’s national organisation for the international promotion of Irish literature
- Oscar Wilde Centre (TCD)
This initiative brings together business, culture, research, and the training of cultural practitioners in an innovative and mutually enriching cluster. It strengthens and diversifies the potential for collaboration between sectors in the field of cultural exchange. It also facilitates increased outreach to communities in Dublin, Ireland, and abroad, and the generation of funding for activities relating to literature and its translation.
Finally, it transforms the environment for MPhil students in Trinity College by providing opportunities to bridge the divide between the theory and practice of literary translation, creative writing and editing and the realities of the world of publishing, marketing and distributing which fashions their careers. This initiative is the result of Trinity College’s commitment through the Creative Arts, Technologies and Culture Initiative to create a dynamic network of interconnectivity at the heart of the city in education, research, creative practice and entrepreneurship.
